Jeff Skunk Baxter has had a long and very successful career in the music business. From his first band in Mexico to working in guitar stores in Manhattan to being a member of many bands, Skunk is recognized as a legendary guitarist. His career continues with the release in June 2022 of his first solo CD. Baxter continues to be active as a performer, commentator, composer and producer.

Renew Records Signs Jeff Skunk Baxter

Legendary guitarist Jeff Skunk Baxter of Steely Dan and the Doobie Bros. has been signed by BMG/Renew Records for his first solo CD. The CD, co-produced with CJ Vanston, features his incredible guitar work with songs of many different genres and features performances with Michael McDonald, Jonny Lang, Rick Livingstone and Clint Black. Baxter also provides vocals on "My Old School." The new CD will be released in June 2022.

Jeff Skunk Baxter Joins Celebration of Steve Cropper's 80th Birthday

On Tuesday September 7th, a lineup of great musicians came together at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville to celebrate Steve Cropper's 80th birthday. Cropper is an American guitarist, songwriter and producer. He is best known as the guitarist from Booker T and the MGs as well as later a member of The Blues Brothers. Cropper was joined on stage by Eddie Floyd, Mike Mills, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, Felix Cavaliere, William Bell, Phil Vassar, Lee Roy Parnell, Billy F Gibbons, Henry Cho, Jason Scheff, James Burton, Randy Owen, Sixwire and many more incredible artists! Baxter expanded on his solos from Steely Dan hits at the event.

The Doobie Brothers Are Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2020

For almost 50 years the Doobie Brothers have been a main stay in the rock and roll industry. Jeff Skunk Baxter was the lead guitarist in the early years and responsible for bringing Michael McDonald into the band. Along with other members of the band, Baxter was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in November of 2020.
